Connor’s Climb Foundation to Host Mindfulness Retreat for Youth & Families

Generous Support Provided by Seacoast Public Health Network

Connor’s Climb Foundation is thrilled to partner with Taking Root Education, a nature-based mindfulness education provider out of Hampton, to offer the #StickItToStress Outdoor Mini Retreat to youth and their families! The event will take place at Gilman Park in Exeter, NH, on Saturday, April 29th, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Proceeds raised from tickets and sponsorships will go directly to supporting the Foundation’s mission of providing suicide prevention and mental health awareness programming.

The retreat happens just in time to kick off Mental Health Awareness Month in May. Mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and an inability to handle stress all contribute to suicidality and have recently been on the rise. This retreat aims to teach youth and their families the mindfulness techniques needed to address some of these risk factors.

Featuring yoga, nature walks, and mindfulness meditation, the aim of the event is to teach youth and their families how to tune into their bodies, combat the effects of stress, and build resiliency. Calming activities, including coloring, journaling, and complimentary mindful snacking, will round out the day, and raffles for exciting prizes will inspire attendees to continue their mindfulness journey on their own. Attendees will also receive complimentary swag bags with event memorabilia.

The retreat will be sponsored by Seacoast Public Health Network, whose mission is to strengthen public health partnerships in emergency preparedness, community health, and substance misuse prevention in order to better serve the 23 towns in eastern Rockingham County. The SPHN works to coordinate regional planning and develop networks of effective action to support that mission. Says Connor’s Climb Foundation’s Marketing & Events Manager, Amanda Fontaine, of the partnership: “It’s wonderful to see local organizations like Seacoast Public Health Network recognize the need for our youth to build resiliency in the face of mental health challenges, and we are so grateful for their support of us and their communities.”
